Ants

When ants infest a home, it can be very frustrating to both the homeowner and the pest control professional. Treatments of infestations can take a long time and can be very difficult. You should be aware that there is no magic wand to wave and the process can be very tedious and labor intensive.

Every ant treatment in a house is different from the last. Ant control comes with no promises. But, here are some things you, the homeowner can do that will reduce or eliminate ants in the house.

First, realize that ants require lots of water. This is why you usually see them around sinks, showers, and tubs. This is why it is very important to keep these areas as dry as possible. Moisture problems around the house will contribute to ants and other insect infestations, including termites. Window and door areas with moisture damage will attract carpenter ants into these areas.  Other areas of moisture include your drip line from the air conditioner. This is a common area overlooked because it’s not associated with actual moisture damage. Getting water away from the house not only helps keep insects under control, but it also reduces the chances of water damage to the home.  Sometimes eliminating the moisture problem first will remove the ants from that area without any real treatment performed, which saves money and time.

If you have a service agreement with a reliable pest control company when you see ants, call your company for a service call. DO NOT SPRAY ANTS WITH A PESTICIDE OR ANY OTHER CHEMICAL. Your service technician can not do anything if there are no ants around while he is there.
